Ultreia Valtuille 2020 | Bierzo
From a single century-old vineyard located in Valtuille de Abajo facing south. With clay-calcareous soil.
Fermentations in foudres, long macerations with little extraction work and perfect handling of the barrel. Aged for approximately 5 months in used French oak barrels and 6 months in 1,000-litre foudres. Without filtering or clarifying.
Production: 3200 bottles
The 2020 Ultreia Valtuille is truly amazing and more so next to the unusual 2019. This is floral, expressive, fresh and balanced, with incredible elegance. There's a lot of precision here, they picked on exactly the right date, removed the white grapes, and the wine matured in barrique for five months and then in 1,000-liter oak foudre. The fine tannins show the finesse of the sandy soils. It's even a notch above the already other worldly 2018. Possibly the finest Ultreia Valtuille ever, with a moderate 12.7% alcohol. Bravo! 3,200 bottles produced.
